Our Story
At the 2022 IFS conference, Samar Rahme, Ann-Katrin Bockmann and Mary Petro presented a workshop about their work with Refugee mothers in the Middle East through the “Leyla Project.” (Exiled mothers: The (legacy) burdens of women in the Arab world and their impact on children).
Inspired by this, Ms. Morante reached out to them and shared her own passion for motherhood and her work with mothers in California.
Since then, the 4 of them started meeting regularly and collaborating on ideas on how to reach out and support mothers around the world.
Together, they presented a workshop at the 2023 IFS conference (“Motherhood and IFS: Creating Healing Circles for Mothers around the World”), with the intention of inviting more IFS therapists and practitioners who also share a passion for enhancing the motherhood experience in today’s world.
Twenty-one participants attended this workshop and nine of them signed up to explore this collective further.
Since then, more mothers joined this collective, and we currently have 67 participants that come from at least 14 different countries (Jordan, Lebanon, Germany, Perú, Canada, India, Netherlands, Mexico, Rusia, Argentina, Honduras, Colombia, Spain, USA).
The collective meets on a quarterly basis. We have started by sharing with one another some of our own work and experiences. We have had presentations such as, “Mother Parts’ Salon”, “Motherhood during the empty nest stage”, “Self-led self-care for mothers,” etc.
